Exposures of Judith River Formation can be found in central Montana. Fossilized remains found there are from the Campanian Stage of the Upper/Late Cretaceous period. Between 75 and 80 million years ago, it was primarily a shallow, fresh to brackish water, marine environment frequented by dinosaurs, reptiles and mammals.
