Segmented Carnivore Coprolite

Stucco Stool

The surface of this segmented carnivore coprolite has a lot of embedded sand. It kind of looks like stucco. It is pretty safe to say the sandy sediment clung to fresh fecal matter as it touched down and was ultimately covered by the activities of creatures or current. Because the sand particles are partially embedded on the surface, it is hard to say if the microscopic bits of organic matter on the surface are inclusions or just part of the sediment that clung to the poop. Perhaps a little excavation is in order at a future date.
