Originally, these were thought to be termite coprolites. The shape is about right, but the composition is not. Termite fecal pellets are a comprised of chewed and compacted wood fibers. They would be very smooth and homogenous. Once examined under the microscope, these were identified as seeds. What type of seeds? That is still a mystery.
