Tucked away in the 80 million year old termite tunnel in a section of a petrified conifer branch is the perfect hexagonal section of a coprolite extruded by a dry wood termite. The piece of petrified wood was found in the Aachen sands excavated for the expansion of the Buschtunnel (railway tunnel).  The other side of branch section reveals additional coprolites; however, because they are cut at different angles, their masterful hexagonal shapes was not captured as completely.
