Coprolite with Hexagonal Inclusion

Fish in a China Plop

Although much of this coprolite is missing, there are still a few fish scales/bone fragments visible. What is particularly interesting is what looks like a small hexagonal scale with a hole in the center. Along side this coprolite is fossil remains of a Lycoptera, otherwise know as an old wolf fin fish. Although none of the fish on this fossil plate have scales, Lycoptera are described as having oval scales. So this fish remains in this coprolite must be a different species.
